Vitamin D Group-
Vitamin D deficiency
Adverse Reaction:
Weakness, headache, somnolence, nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, constipation, muscle pain, bone pain, metallic taste. Polyuria, polydipsia, anorexia, weight loss , irritability, nocturia, mild acidosis, reversible azotemia, generalised vascular calcification, nephrocalcinosis, conjuntivitis (calcific), pancreatitis, photophobia, rhinorrhoea, pruritus, hyperthermia, decreased libido.
Contra-Indications:
Hypercalemia,evidence of vitamin D toxicity, maladsorptionsyndrome, hypervitaminosis abnormal sensitivity to the effects of vitamin D, decreased renal function.
Special precautions: Use caution in patients with coronary disease, renal function impairment and arterioscelorosis, especially in elderly.
Evaluate vitamin D ingested in fortified foods, dietary supplements and other concomittantly administered drugs, so as to restrict dietary vitamins during treatment.
Hyperthroidism- calcium, parathyroid may be needed.

Overdosage- Symptoms Hypercalcemia, hyperohosphatemia Hypercalcemia leads to anorexia,weakness, weight loss, vague aches, and stiffness, constipation, diarrhea, mental retardation, tinnitus, ataxia, hypotonia, depression amnesia, diaorientation, hallucinations, syncope, coma, anemia, and mild acidosis
Treatment
1. Immediate withdrawal of the vitamin, a low calcium diet, generous fluid intake and urine acidification along with symptomatic supportive treatment
Missed dose
1. If you miss a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as possible.
2. However, if it is almost time for next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule.
3. Do not double doses.
