For moderate to severe pain
Adverse Reaction:
Sedation. Sweaty/clammy feeling, Nausea, vomiting, dizziness, vertigo, dry mouth, headache. Hypertension,hypotension,bradycardia,tachycardia,pulmonary edema. Respiratory depression, dyspnea,asthma. Itching,burnig,urticaria. Speech difficulty, Urinary urgency, Blurred vision, flushing.
Contra-Indications:
Hypersensitivity to nalbuphine.
Special precautions:
Respiratory depression- administer at low doses to patients with impaired respiration Myocardial infarction- use with caution in patients who have nausea or vomiting Biliary tract surgery- use with caution in patients,since it may cause spasm. Hazardous tasks- Observe caution while driving or performing hazardous tasks,requiring alertness.
Dosages/ Overdosage Etc:
For moderate to severe pain

Adults- usual dose- 10mg/70kg administered SC,IM or IV, every 3 to 6 hours as necessary. Individualise dose. Maximum total daily dose is 160mg.

Pharmacology/ Pharmacokinetics:
Pharmacology:
Nalbuphine is a potent anlgesic with narcotic agonist and antagonist actions,with chemical structure similar to phenanthrene derivatives. Its analgesic potency is essentially equivalent to morphine and about 3 times of pentazocine on a mligram basis.
Pharmacokinetics:
Onset of action occurs within 2 to 3 minutes after IV administration and in less than 15 miniutes following SC or IM injection. It is metabolised in the liver,plasma half-life is 5 hours.

Pregnancy:
Safe use in pregnancy has not been established. Administer only when potential benefits outweigh the possible hazards.
Children-
Not recommended in patients below 18 years.
