Most foods reduce adsorption.

Digested products of meat, citrates, fructose,

Vitamin C and alcohol enhance absorption.

Idiosyncratic reaction on parentral administration(rare)

Abdominal discomfort ,nausea, metallic taste, heartburn, constipation or diarrhoea iron storage disease.

Iron storage disease, anaemia associated with ineffective erythropoiesis,

marrow hypoplasia, sideroblastic anemias and other nutritional anaemias not due to iron deficiency.

Previous hypersentivity and acute infection.

Special precautions:

Acute inflammatory disease of bowel, renal failure, hyperparathyroidism.

Indication-

Anaemias requiring intensive iron therapy

Dosage-

2.5 to 5ml twice daily
