Dezocine- Systemic
1.Allergies-
Tell your doctor if you have ever had any unusual or allergic reaction to
dezocine. Also tell your healthcare care professional if you are allergic to
any other substances such as foods. preservatives or dyes.
2.Pregnancy-
Studies on birth defects with dezocine have not been done in pregnant women.
Dezocine did not cause birth defects in animal studies.However, the birth weight
of the new born animals were lower than normal, probably because the pregnant
animals ate less than usual.
Too much of narcotic during pregnancy may cause the baby to become dependent
on the medicine. This may lead to withdrawal effects after birth. Also, narcotics
may cause breathing problems in the newborn infants taken just before delivery.
3. Breast-feeding-
It is known whether dezocine passes into breast milk. However,it has not been
reported to cause problems in nursing babies.
4.Children-
Studies of this medicine has been done only in adult patients and there is no
specific information comparing use of dezocine in patients up to 18 years
of age with use in other age groups.
5.Older adults-
Elderly people are especially sensitive to the effects of narcotic analgesics
such as dezocine. This may cause increase the chance of side effects,
especially breathing problems during treatment
6. Other medicines-
Although certain medicines should not be used together at all, in other cases two
different medicines may be used together even if an interaction might occur.
In such cases your doctor may want to change the dose, or other precautions
may be necessary.
When you are using dezocine, it is especially important that your doctor know
if you taking any of the following-
Central nervous( CNS) depressants including narcotics or
Tricyclic antidepressants (amitriptyline), amoxapine, clomipramime,
desperamine, doxepin, imipramine,nortriptyline, trimipramine,-
the chance of side effects may be increased
Naltrexone- dezocine may not be effective in people taking naltrexone
7. Other medical problems-
The presence of other medical problems may affect the use of dezocine.
Make sure you tell your doctor if you have any other medical problems
especially-
Alcohol use- or history of -
Drug dependence ,especially narcotic abuse, or history of or
Emotional problems - the chance of side effects may be increased, also
withdrawal symptoms may occur if narcotic you are dependent on is
replaced by dezocine
Brain disease or head injury or
Colitis or other intestinal disease or
Diarrhea or
Emphysema, asthma or other chronic lung disease or
Enlarged prostrate or problems with urination- some
of the side effects of narcotic analgesics can be dangerous
if these conditions are present
Heart or blood vessel disease, severe or
Gallbladder disease or gallstone or
Kidney disease or
Liver disease or
Underactive thyroid -the chance of side effects may be increased
