Zinc salts
GI absorption and serum levels of some fluroquinolones
decreased, possibly resulting in a decreased
anti-infective response
Ciprofloxacin / Enoxacin / Norfloxacin +Caffeine
total body clearance is reduced, resulting in increased
pharmacologic effects. Ofloxacin and lomefloxacin do not appear to
affect caffeine. Enoxacin plasma levels were also higher.
Ciprofloxacin / Norfloxacin + Cyclosporine
the nephrotoxic effect of cyclosporine increased
Indication:
Urinary tract infections, sexually transmitted diseases.

Adverse Reaction:
Nausea, vomiting, heart burns, constipation/diarrhoea, headache, dizziness, depression, Insomnia and seizures. Rash, dry mouth, Fever, arthalgia.
Elevates liver enzymes, urea and creatinine. Eosinophilia, neutropenia, thrombocytopenia and anaemia.
Contra-Indications:
Hypersens to any quinolone,children,pregnancy,convulsions.
Special preacutions:
Lactation. Moderate renal impairment.- half the dose. History of convulsions. Do not exceed recommended dose. Ensure adequate hydration, urinary output. Patients predisposed to seizures.
Dosages/ Overdosage Etc:
Approved by FDA in 1986.
Indications:
Urinary tract infections, sexually transmitted diseases.
Dosage:
Uncpmlicated infections- Dailyndose 800mg- divided 400mg 12 hourly, for a period of 3 days. Complicated infections- daily dose 800mg divided 400mg every 12 hourly,for a period of 10-21 days. Uncomplicated gonorrhoea- - daily dose 800mg- Single dose for I day..

NORFLOXACIN- Ophthalmic

1.Allergies-
Tell your doctor if you have ever had any unusual or allergic reaction to
Cinoxacin , ciprofloxacin, enoxacin, lomefloxacin or Ofloxacin.
Also tell your healthcare care professional if you are allergic to any other
substances such as foods. preservatives or dyes.
2.Pregnancy-
Studies have not been done in humans. However, Norfloxacin, taken
by mouth can cause problems in young animals.Since it not known
whether ophthalmic solutions can cause problems in infants, use is
not recommended during pregnancy.
3. Breast-feeding-
It is known whether ophthalmic norfloxacin passes into breast milk.
Low doses of norfloxacin taken by mouth do not pass into breast milk.
but other related medicines do. Also, norfloxacin taken by mouth
can cause bone problems in young animals.
Since it is not known whether ophthalmic norfloxacin can cause
problems in infants, use is not recommened in nursing mothers
4.Children-
Use is not recommended in infants and children upto 1 year of age.
In children 1 year and older, this medicine is not expected to cause
different side effects or problems than it does in adults.
5.Older adults-
Although there is no specific information comparing use of ophthalmic
norfloxacin in the elderly with use in other age groups, it is not expected
to cause different side effects than it does in younger adults
6. Other medicines-
Tell your doctor if you are using any other prescription or
non-prescription (Over-the counter) OTC medicine.
