Miotics - direct acting includes-
Acetyl choline, Carbachol, Pilocarpine
1.Allergies-
Tell your doctor if you are have ever had any unusual or allergic reaction to
carbachol. Also tell your healthcare care professional if you are allergic to any other
substances such as foods. preservatives or dyes.
2.Pregnancy-
Studies on effects in pregnancy have not been done in humans or animals.
However, carbachol may be absorbed into the body.
3. Breast-feeding-
Carbachol may be absorbed into mothers body. It is not known whether carbachol
passes into the breast milk.. Although most medicines pass into breast milk in
small amounts,many of them may be used safely while breast-feeding.
Mothers who are taking this medicine and who wish to breast feed should discuss this
with their doctor.
4.Children-
Although there is no specific information comparing carbachol in children with use
in other age groups this medicine has not been shown to cause different side effects or
problems than it does in adults.
5.Older adults-
Many medicines have not been studied specifically in older people. Therefore,
it may not be known whether they work exactly the same way than they do in
younger adults, or if they cause different side effects or problems in older people.
Although there is no specific information comparing use of carbachol in the elderly
with use in other age groups this medicine is not expected to cause different side effects or problems than it does in younger adults.
6. Other medicines-
Although certain medicines should not be used together at all, in other cases two
different medicines may be used together even if an interaction might occur.
In such cases your doctor may want to change the dose, or other precautions
may be necessary.
Tell your doctor if you are using any other prescription or non-prescription
(Over-the counter) OTC medicine.
7. Other medical problems-
The presence of other medical problems may affect the use of carbachol.
Make sure you tell your doctor if you have any other medical problems
especially-
Asthma or
Eye problems or
Heart disease or
Overactive thyroid or
Parkinsons disease or
Stomach ulcer or other stomach problems or
Urinary tract bockage - carbachol may make the condition worse
