Indication:
Location of abrasions and foreign particles in eyes
Adverse Reaction:
Nausea, headache, GI distress, vomiting, syncope, hypotension and other symptoms and signs of hypersensitivity cardiac arrest, thrombophlebitis at injection site severe shock convulsions, death ( rare ) temporary yellowish skin discoloration hives, itching, bronchospasm anaphylaxis
Contra-Indications:
Hypersensitivity to fluoresin or any other component of the product do not use with contact lenses ( lenses may become discolored ) Special precautions: Discontinue if sensitivity develops May stain soft contact lenses Do not touch dipper tip to any surface, as this may contaminate the solution Avoid extravastion during injection, The high pH can result in severe local damage Hypersensitivity - excercise caution when dministering to patints with a history of hypersensitivity , allergies or asthma, If signs of hypersensity develops discontinue use
Dosages/ Overdosage Etc:
Location of abrasions and foreign particles in eyes Topical- Instill 1 or 2 drops of 2% soln , allow a fewseconds for staining. Washout excess with sterile irrigating solution Strips- moisten strip with sterile water . place moistened strip at the fornix in the lower cul-de-sec close to puntum. For best results, patient should close lid tightly over strip until desired amount of staing is obtained. patients should blink several times after application
Patient Information:
May cause strong taste with use,
May cause temporary yellowish discoloration of the skin. Urine will run bright yellow. Discoloration of skin fades in 6 to 12 hours, urine in 24 to 36 hours
Soft lenses may become stained.
Do not wear lenses while fluoresin is being used.
Whenever fluoresin is used , flush the eyes with sterile normal saline solution and wait at least 1 hour before replacing the lenses
Pregnancy and lactation:
Pregnancy-
There are no reports of fetal complications during pregnancy
Lactation-
Fluoresin is excreted in breasst milk, Use caution when administering to nursing women
Children-
