Details-
+ Bacitracin-
Aminoglycosides incr concurrent use may increase risk of respiratory collapse
Muscle relaxants incr neuromuscular blockade may be enhanced
Potentiates other nephrotoxic drugs (IV route only). Broad septrum activity with other antibiotics.
Indication:
Pneumonea caused by staphylococci
Adverse Reaction:
Nephrotoxicity, rarely anaphylaxsis. Albuminuria, cylindruria, azotemia, rising blood levels without increase in dosage, nausea and vomiting, pain at injection site, skin rashes
Contra-Indications:
Hypersens. Special precautions: Nephrotoxicity- parentral IM may cause renal failure due to tubular and glomerular necrosis.Restrict use to infants with staphylococcal pneumonia and empyema when due to organisms shown to be susceptible . Use only where laboratory facilities are adequate and constant supervision is possible. Neonates. Safety in pregnancy and lactation not established, renal impairment. Fluid intake- maintain adequate fluid intake orally, or if necessary, parentrally Superinfection- use of antibiotics especially prolonged or repeated therapy may result in bacterial or fungal overgrowth of nonsusceptible organisms. Such overgrowth may lead to a secondary infection. Take appropiate measures if this occurs. Warnings- Nephrotoxicity- Parentral (IM) bacitracin may cause renalfailure due to tubular and glomerular necrosis. Restrict use to infants with staphyloccoci pneumonia and empyema when due to organisms shown to be susceptible. Use only where laboratory facilities are adequate and constant supervision is possible. Carefully deterrmine renal function prior to therapy, and daily during therapy. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose, and maintain fluid intake and utinary output at proper levels to avoid renal toxicity. If renal toxicity occurs, discontinue the drug. Avoid concurrent use of other nephrotoxic drugs, particularly streptomycin, kanamycin, polymxin B and neomycin.

Pharmacology/ Pharmacokinetics:
Pharmacology:
Bacitracin exerts pronounced antibacterial effect against gram positive and gram negative organisms Pharmacokinetics: Absorption after Im injection is rapid and complete. It is widely distributed in all parts of the body and is excreted by glomerular filtration.
