Calcipotriene - topical
1. Use as directed. For external use only. Avoid contact with the face or eyes..
2. Do not use for any disorder other than that for which it was prescribed.
3. Report any adverse reactions.
4.Allergies-
Tell your doctor if you are have ever had any unusual or allergic reaction to
calcipotriene or other ingredients of the preparation, which you find listed
on the label.
Also tell your healthcare care professional if you are allergic to any other
substances such as foods. preservatives or dyes.
5.Pregnancy-
Calcipotriene has not been studied in pregnant women. However, studies
in animals have shown that calcipotriene causes problems in the mother
and the fetus, including birth defects. Before using this medicine, make sure
that your doctor knows that you are pregnant or if you become pregnant
6. Breast-feeding-
It is known whether calcipotriene passes into breast milk. Although most medicines
pass into breast milk in small amounts,many of them may be used safely while
breast-feeding.
Mothers who are taking this medicine and who wish to breast feed should discuss this
with their doctor.
7.Children-
Studies of thie medicine has been done only in adult patients and there is no specific
information comparing calcipotriene in children with use in other age groups.
8.Older adults-
Skin related side effects caused by calcipotriene may be more severe when they
occur in patients over 65 years of age
9. Other medicines-
Although certain medicines should not be used together at all, in other cases two
different medicines may be used together even if an interaction might occur.
In such cases your doctor may want to change the dose, or other precautions
may be necessary.
Tell your doctor if you are using any other prescription or non-prescription
(Over-the counter) OTC medicine.
10. Other medical problems-
The presence of other medical problems may affect the use of calcipotriene.
Make sure you tell your doctor if you have any other medical problems
especially-
Hypercalcemia (high blood levels of calcium) or
Hypercaciuria ( high urine levels of calcium) or
hypervitaminosis D ( high blood levels of vitamin D -
Calcipotriene may increase the chance of kidney stone formation
Kidney stones( or history of)- calcipotriene may make the condition
worse
