Patient Information:
1. Apply ointments, creams, gels sparingly in a light film: rub in gently.
2. To use a lotion, solution or gel on your scalp, part your hair, apply small portion of the medicine on the parted hair and rub it gently.
3. To apply aerosols, shake well and spray on affected area holding container about 3 to 6 inches away.
4. Avoid prolonged use around the eyes, in the genital and rectal areas, on the face, armpits and in skin creases
Pharmacology/ Pharmacokinetics:
Topical corticosteroids include: Alclometasone dipropionate, Amcinonide, Betamethasone & salts, Clobetasol propionate, Clocortolone pivalate, Desonide, Desoximetasone, Dexamethasone, Diflorasone diacetate, Fluocinolone acetonide, Flucocinonide, Flurandrenolide, Fluticasone propionate, Halcinonide, Halbetasol propionate, Hydrocortisone, Methyl prednisolone acetate, Prednicarbate, Triamcinalone acetaonide.
Pharmacology:
Topical corticosteroids are adrenocorticosteroid derivatives incorporated in a suitable vehicle for application. The primary theapeutic effects are due to their anti-inflammatory activity which is non-specific.
Topically applied steroids diffuse across cell membranes to interact with cytoplastic receptors located in both the dermal and epidermal cells.

Use during pregnancy only if required.
Lactation:
Topical corticosteroids could reslut in sufficient absorption in breast milk. Excercise caution while administering to nursing mothers.
