Cisplatin +
Zalcitabine
these drugs are associated with peripheral neuropathy Avoid concomittant use when possible
Topotecan
myelosuppression is more severe when toptecan was given in combination with cisplatin. There are no adequate data to define a safe and effective regimen for topotecan and ciplatin in combination
Tacrolimus
potential for additive or synergistic impairment of renal function Take care while administering tacrolimus with these drugs
Indication:
Palliative treatment of metastatic tumors, advanced bladder cancers.

Adverse Reaction:
Rare,mostly related to renal damage due to inadequate hydration during therapy.
Very rarely life threatening myleosuppression
Special precautions:
Severe nausea, vomiting.
Serious toxic effects on kidneys and ears. Hypomagnesaemia, Hypocalcaemia, hyperurecaemia.
Peripheral neuropathies, Papiloedema, Cerabral blindness, Seizures.
Anaphylactoid reactions (rare) and Cardiac abnormalities.
Contra-Indications:
Patients with severe renal disorder, known hypersen, severe bone marrow suppression, pregnancy,

Patients with renal and hepatic disorder, myelosuppression, Auditory disoder
Dosages/ Overdosage Etc:
Indications:
Palliative treatment of metastatic tumors, advanced bladder cancers.
Dosage:
For IV use only..20mg /m2/day for 5 days(day 1 to 5) every 3 weeks for 3 courses.
Patient Information:
Cisplatin - systemic
1.Allergies-
Tell your doctor if you are have ever had any unusual or allergic reaction to
cisplatin.
2.Pregnancy-
There is a chance that this medcine may cause birth defects if either the male
or female is taking it at the time of conception or if it is taken during pregnancy.
Cisplatin causes toxic or harmful effects in fetus and birth defects in mice,
In addition many cancer medicines may cause sterility which could be
permanent
Be sure that you have discussed this with your doctor before receiving this
medicine. It is best to use some kind of birth control while you are receiving
cisplatin. Tell your doctor if you think you may become pregnant.
3. Breast-feeding-
Because cisplatin may cause serious side effects breast feeding is generally
not recommended while you are receiving it.
4.Children-
Hearing problems and loss of balance are more likely to occur in children
who are more sensitive to the effects of cisplatin.
5.Older adults-
Many medicines have not been studied specifically in older people. Therefore,
it may not be known whether they work exactly the same way they do in
younger adults, or if they cause different side effects or problems in older people.
There is no specific information comparing use of cisplatin in the elderly with use
in other age groups
6. Other medicines-
Although certain medicines should not be used together at all, in other cases two
different medicines may be used together even if an interaction might occur.
In such cases your doctor may want to change the dose, or other precautions
may be necessary.
When you are recieiving cisplatin it is especially important that doctor know
if you are taking any of the following-
Amphotericin or
Antithyroid drugs or
Azathioprine or
Cholramphenicol or
Colchicine or
Flucytosine or
Gangiciclovir or
Interferon or
Pilcamycin or
Ziduvudine or
If you have been treated with radiation or cancer medicines- cisplatin may
increase the effects of these medicines or radiation therapy on the blood
7. Other medical problems-
The presence of other medical problems may affect the use of cisplatin.
Make sure you tell your doctor if you have any other medical problems
especially-
Chickenpox ( including recent exposure ) or
Herpes zoster( shingles) - risk of severe disease affecting other parts of
the body
Gout (history of) or
Kidney stones (history of) - cisplatin may increase the levels of uric acid
in the body, which can cause gout or kidney stones
Hearing problems- may be worsened by cisplatin
Infection- cisplatin decreases your bodys ability to fight infection
Kidney disease - effects of cisplatin may be increased because of
slower removal from the body.

Cisplatin is an inorganic heavy metal coordination complex that has biochemical properties similar to those bifunctional alkylating agents.

Initial plasma half-life is 25 to 49 minutes, Cisplatin is excreted primarily in urine
