Indication: Anesthesia

Dosage: Surgical levels of anethesia can be usually be obtained with concentrations of 0.5% to 3% with or without concomittant use of nitrous oxide

SEVOFLURANE - INHALTION- SYSTEMIC

1.Allergies-

Tell your doctor if you have ever had any unusual or allergic reaction to

an anesthetic. Also tell your healthcare care professional if you are allergic

to any other substances such as foods. preservatives or dyes.

2.Pregnancy-

Sevoflurane has not been studied in pregnant women.

3. Breast-feeding-

It is not known whether sevoflurane passes into breast milk. Mothers who

are taking this medicine and who wish to breast feed should discuss this

with their doctor.

4.Children-

Sevoflurane has been tested in children. Sevoflurane may cause children

to become agitated when it is used to start anesthesia when they are wake.

Also children receiving sevoflurane during surgery may become agitated

as they awaken after surgery.

5.Older adults-

Sevoflurane has been tested and does not cause different side effects in older

people than younger adults.

6. Other medicines-

Tell your doctor if you are taking any other prescription or non-prescription

(Over-the counter) OTC medicine including the following-

Aminoglycosides or

Capreomycin or

Clindamycin or

Lincomycin or

Polymycin - use of these medicines with sevoflurane may increase the

effect of sevoflurane

7. Other medical problems-

Make sure you tell your doctor if you have any other medical problems

especially-

Disease than cause muscle weakness such as familial periodic analysis,

muscular atropy, myasthenia gravis or myasthenic syndrome- weakness

may be increased

Head injury- sevoflurane may make the condition worse

Kidney disease - sevoflurane may make this condition worse

Liver disease- the effects of sevoflurane may be increased

Malignant hyperthermia, during or shortly after receiving anesthetic

- this side effect may occur.

Portwine stain- sevoflurane may interfere with laser effect treatment

to remove portwine stain
