Drug Interaction:
Consider reducing concomittant suphonylurea dose.
Concurrent insuln ,D-phenylalamine b derivatives, megalitinides, alpha- glucosidase inhibitors
not recommended
Hypoglycemia possible with sulponylurea.
May delay absorption of oral drugs ( take these one hour before exenatide )
Monitor warfarin
Prandial glucose regulators
Statins
Drugs affected by change in rate of gastric emptying
Indication:
Adverse Reaction:
GI upset, hypoglycemia, dizziness, headache, asthenia,
Reduced appitite, weight loss, GERD,
Hyperhidrosis, antibody formation
( glycemic response may be attenuated )
Suspect acute pancreatitis if persistent severe abdominal pain with/without vomiting )
Altered kidney function.
Injection site reactions
Renal insufficiency,
Acute renal failure
Sports events -restricted/banned
Contra-Indications:
Type II diabetes.
Type II diabetes with beta cell failure
Severe renal impairment
Severe gastro-intestinal disease
Diabetic ketoacidosis
Postprandial administration

Lactation

Not a subtitute for insulin
Moderate renal impairment

Dosages/ Overdosage Etc:
Type II diabetes mellitus in combination with metformin
Given by sc inj into thigh, abdomen or upper arm with 60 minutes before AM and Pm meals
initially 5mcg twice daily
May increase to 10mcg twice daily after one month
Not recommended for patients below 18 years
Pregnancy and lactation:
Contraindicated for use during pregnancy and lactation
Observe caution
