Indication:
Gallstone dissolution
Adverse Reaction:
GI- abdominal pain/discomfort, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, anorexia, loose stool, indigestion.
Fever, leukopenia, pruritus, fatigue/lethargy, intolerance, chills, depression
Contra-Indications:
Impaired hepatic function, significant biliary tract infection, history of recent duodenal ulcer
Special precautions:
Rate of administration, intended for biliary tract perfusion only, not for parentral use. Pregnancy, lactation, children

Dosage-
Gallstones must be radiolucent and readily accessible to the profusate
Add 13ml of sterile water for injection to each 120ml vial to reduce the viscocity and enhance the bathing of stones
The drug should enter the body temp at 37 C and be maintained at this temp during admin.

1.Allergies-
Tell your doctor if you have ever had any unusual or allergic reaction to
monoctanoin or any vegetable oils.Also tell your healthcare care professional
if you are allergic to any other substances such as foods. preservatives or dyes.
2.Pregnancy-
Studies have not been done in humans or animals
3. Breast-feeding-
It is known whether monactanoin passes into breast milk. However, this
medicine has not been shown to cause problems in nursing children.
4.Children-
Studies of thie medicine has been done only in adult patients and there is
no specific information comparing use of monoctanonin in children with
use in other age groups.
5.Older adults-
There is no specific information comparing use of monoctanonin in the elderly
with use in other age groups
6. Other medicines-
Tell your doctor if you are using any of the following-
Bile duct blockage - chance of serious side effects increased
Billiary tract problems or
Jaundice or
Pancreatitis - monocatanonin may make the condition worse.
Duodanal ulcer- or
Intestinal problems - monoctanotin may make the condition worse
and may increase the chance of bleeding
Liver disease- unwanted effects may occur if the liver is not working
properly

Pharmacology:
Monooctanoin is a semisynthetic esterified glycerol intended for cholestrol dissolution via theperfusion of the common bile duct. Monoactanoin is readily hydrolysed by pancreatic and other digestive lipases.
