Avoid drugs that reduce gastric acidity
Probenecid
False positive glucose test with Clnitest, Fehlings or Benedicts solution Coombs test
False negative with ferricyanide test
Indication:
Pneumonia
Skin and soft structure infection
Pharyngitis
Adverse Reaction:
GI upset, headache,
Transcient reduction in carnitine levels
Contra-Indications:
Milk protein allergy, (not lactose intolerance) Carnitine deficiency or conditions causing carnitine deficiency
Special precautions-
Penicilin or other allergy. Not for long term therapy Decreased muscle mass ( risk of carnitine deficiency)
Monitor prothrombin time in renal or hepatic impairment, or por nutrional state Labor and delivery

Dosages/ Overdosage Etc:
Indication-
Chronic bronchitis
Pneumonia
Skin and soft structure infection
Pharyngitis
Dosage-
Take with meals.
Bronchitis- 400mg twice daily
Pneumonia- 40mg twice daily for 14 days
Pharyngitis/ tonsilitis, skin and structure infections- 200mg twice daily for 10 days
Interaction with Food:
Take with meals.
Pregnancy and lactation:
Use contraindicated during pregnancy and lactation
Oberve caution.
