Adjunct to diet in obese patients
Adverse Reaction:
Faecal urgecy/incontnence, oily stools, flatus with discharge, increased defecation, g-i upset, respiratory infections, influenza, headache, menstrual irregularities, anxiety, fatigue, UTI, raised liver enzymes, hepatitis, jaundice, severe liver injury, hepatocellular necrosis, acute hepatic failure, rectal bleeding
Contra-Indications:
Chronic malabsorption, cholestatis pancreatic enzymes deficiency, chronic pancreatitis, major GI surgery lactation
Special precautions-
Exclude organic causes of obesity advice diet rich in fruit and vegetables containing approx. 30% calories, from fat fat soluble vitamin deficiency consider a multi-vitamin supplement monitor anti-diabetic drug treatment as diabetic patients lose weight possible failure of oral contraception due to severe diarrhea
Dosages/ Overdosage Etc:
Indication-
Adjunct to diet in obese patients 120mg before, during or upto 1 hour after each meal .
Discontinue treatment after 12 weeks if 5 percent of initial weight is not lost Not recommended for patients below 18 years
Interaction with Food:
Adjunct to diet in obese patients
Pregnancy and lactation:
Observe caution Contraindicated for use during lactation and pregnancy.
