Indication:
Respiratory distress syndrome RDS
Adverse Reaction:
Dosing procedure reactions including oxygen desaturation and bradycardia , rastes, moist breath sounds , sepsis, intracranial haemorrhage
Contra-Indications:
Special precautions-
Infants of birth weight under 600g . Interupt dosing if bradycardia or oxugen desaturation occurs, Treat, resume after stabilization
Monitor oxygenisation , carbon dioxide and clinical conditions frequently and carefully

Indication-
Respiratory distress syndrome RDS
Dosage-
100mg of phospholipids ( 4mg/kg ) birth weight per dose by intratracheal admin. max 4 doses at 6 hour intervals in the first 48 hours after birth
Rescue - give 1st dose as soon as possible after infant is placed on mechanical ventilation for treatment of RDS
Prevention- give 1st dose as soon as possible after bitrth preferably within 15 minutes Avoid suctioning for 1 hour after treatment unless significant airways obstruction occurs
Retreatment is determined by continued respiratory distress Get radiographic confirmation of RDS in those infants given preventive dose before giving additional doses
