Dextroprofen belongs to arylpropionate family. It works by blocking the action of COX a key chemical in the production of prostaglandins. Prostaglandins are produced in response to injury or certain diseases and would otherwise go on to cause swelling, inflammmation and pain. By blocking COX dextroprofen inhibits prostagladin synthesis and therfore reduces inflammation, and pain. Dexketoproen has both central and peripheral analgesic action.

Pharmacokinetics

Dexketoprofen trometamol is aater soluble salt of the dextrorotary enanitiomer of ketoprofen. The drug is rapidly absorbed with maximum plasma concentration beteween 0.25 and 0.75 hrs. It is strongly bound to plasma proteins. The drug is well tolerated
