Adverse Reaction:
In sensitive patients phenpyramidol may give rise to gastric irritation or cause nausea and vimmitting when taken on an empty stomach Therefore advisable to give phenyramidol with or after meals.
Contra-Indications:
Allergic reactions observed in rare instances. As a statutory precaution, it is advisable that phenpyramidol should be avoide during pregnancy and lactation
Dosages/ Overdosage Etc:
Lumbago Integumental Pain Muscle stiffness
Dosage-
Recommended oral dosage- 400mg t.d.s to q.d.s for 3 to 7 more days. depending on the severity of pain/accompanying muscul-skeletal discomfort
Pharmacology/ Pharmacokinetics:
PHARMACODYNAMICS-
Phenyramidol hdrochloride interrupts inter-neuronal and polysynaptic refluxes in the spinal cord and brain stem,. thereby exerts -dual- action namely skeletal muscle relaxation and analgesia
PHARMACOKINETICS-
After oral administration, the drug is readily absorbed from the GI tract. Peak plasma concentration is acheived in 45 minutes. The elimination half-life is found to be approximately 10 hours. Considerable amount is principaly excreted as pynyramidol glucorinide into urine. Small proportions aee also excreted in the feces
Interaction with Food:
Advisable to give phenyramidol with or after meals.
Pregnancy and lactation:
It is advisable that phenpyramidol should be avoided during pregnancy and lactation
