Pharmacodynamics-

Resveratrol is unique in its cardioprotective action. It provides cardio-protection by improving post-ishemic ventricular function, reduction of myocardial infract size and cardiomyocye apoptosis. It has evidenced superior post ischemic ventricular recovery , reduced myocatdial infract size and decreased number of apoptic cardiamyocytes

Pharmacokinetics-

Absorption of revertroal appears to be 70% . Elimination half-life ranges from 7-14 hours. Resvertrol is metabolized by three metabolic pathways nemely sulfate and glucoronic acid conjugation of the phenolic group and hydrogenation of aliphatic double bond and most recovered i urine.
