Indications:

Relief of angina 

Dosage

Usual adult dose is 0.3ml by inhalation, as required. Crush the capsule and wave under th nose; 1 to 6 inhalations from one capsule are usually sufficient to produce the desired effect. May repeat in 3 to 5 minutes.

Storage:

Protect from light. Store in a cool place, 15 to 30C(59 to 86F).

Amyl nitrate

1. Individual allergy - Tell your doctor, if you have ever had any unusual or allergic reaction to amyl nitrate. Also tell your doctor if you are allergic to any other substance, food, or preservatives.

2. Pregnancy - Studies on Amyl nitrate has not been carried out in pregnant women. Use of amyl nitrate is not recommended during pregnancy.

3. Breast feeding - It is not known whether amyl nitrate passes into breast milk. However, use of amyl nitrate is not recommended during breast feeding, becuase it may cause unwanted effects in nursing babies.

4. Children - Studies on this medicine have been done only in adults patients, and there is no specific information available comparing use of amyl nitrate in children with use in other age groups.

5. Other medicines - Certain medicines should not be used together due to interactions. However, tell your doctor if you are using any other prescription drugs eg., amantadine, antidepressants, antihypertensives, antipsychotic drugs, bromocriptine, diuretics, medicine for heart ailments, narcotic pain killers, nimodipine, pimozide, promethazine, trimeprazine.

 6. Other medical problems - Tell your doctor, if you have any other medical problems eg. anemia, glaucoma, overactive thyroid, recent stroke, heart attack.

7.Dose - Take this medicine as directed by your physician. Do not miss any doses.

8. Storage - Keep out of reach of children. Do not store in the bath room, near the kitchen sink or in damp places. Heat or moisture may cause the medicine to break down.

9. Amyl nitrate is extremely inflammable. Keep it away from heat or open flame

10. Side effects - Dizziness or lightheadedness may occur, especially when you get up from a lying or sitting position. Get up slowly.

11. Alcohol drinking - Drinking alcohol while taking this medicine may make the dizziness and lightheadedness worse and may cause a serious drop in blood pressure. Check with your doctor before drinking alcoholic beverages.
