Herpes - treatment of recurrent herpes labialis

Contra-Indications:
Warning-
Penciclovir should only be used on herpes labialis on the lips and face.
Care should be taken not to apply in or near the eyes since it may cause irritation.
Pregnancy- No adequate and well controlled studies in pregnant women. Use during pregnancy only if needed
Lactation- Decide whether to discontinue the drug taking into account the importance of the
drug to the mother.
Children- safety and effectiveness in children have not been established

Indication-
Herpes - treatment of recurrent herpes labialis
Dosage-
For external application only
Apply every 2 hours for a period of 4 days. Treatment should be started as soon as possible
ie when the lesions appear
Pregnancy and lactation:
Pregnancy-
No adequate and well controlled studies in pregnant women. Use during pregnancy
only if needed
Lactation-
Decide whether to discontinue the drug taking into account the importance of the
drug to the mother.
