Indication:
Treatment of vernal keratoconjuctivitis
Adverse Reaction:
Hypersensitivity - immediate hypersensitivity reactions have been reported rarely,and
include dyspepsia, edema, and rash
Most frequently reported adverse reactions- on the basis of recurrence following readministration is transcient ocular stinging,or burning on instillation
Contra-Indications:
Hypersensitivity - to cromolyn sodium or any other ingredients
Special Precauions/Warnings
Ocular effects - patients may experience transcient stinging or burning sensation following
application of cromolyn ophthalmic solution
Usage - do not exceed the recommended frequency of administration.
Advice patients that the effect of cromolyn sodium opthalmic solution is dependent on
its administration at regular intervals
Pregnancy- The drug should be used in pregnancy only if clearly needed.
Lactation- Excercise caution when cromolyn sodium ophthalmic solution is administered
to a nursing women
Children- Safety and efficacy in pediatric patients below the age of 4 years have not been
established
Dosages/ Overdosage Etc:
Indication-
Treatment of vernal keratoconjuctivitis
Dosage-
Dose is 1 o 2 drops in each eye 4 to 6 times a day at regular intervals
Symptomatic response to therapy is ( decreased itching, teraring, redness and discharge ) is
evident within a few days, but longer treatment for upto 6 weeks is sometimes required
If required, corticosteroids may be used concomittantly with cromolyn sodium opthalmic
solution
Patient Information:
1. Usage - do not exceed the recommended frequency of administration.
Advice patients that the effect of cromolyn sodium opthalmic solution is dependent on
its administration at regular intervals
2. Avoid placing cromolyn sodium opthalmic solution directly on the cornea ( area under the pupil) because it is sensitive. It may be more comfortable to place the drops just inside the lower eyelid
3. Do not touch the dropper tip to the eye,fingers, or any other surface. Relace cap after use.
4. Store between 15 to 30C ( 59F to 86F ). Protect from light . store in the original carton
5. Keep tightly closed and out of reach of children
6. Do not use with any other medication unless adviced by your doctor.
7. Do not use contact lenses during treatment with cromolyn sodium ophthalmic solutin
