Hyperuricemia
Adverse Reaction:
Most serious adverse reactions were-
Allergic reactions including anaphylaxis < 1%
Rash < 1% Hemolysis < 1%
Commonly observed serious adveres reactions-
Fever 4%, neutropenia with fever 3% respiratory distress 2% sepsis 2% neutropenia 2% mucositosis 2%
Contra-Indications:
Histoy of anaphylaxis or hypersensitivity reactions-
Special Precautions/Warnings -
Anaphylaxis - Rasburicase may cause severe hypersensitivity reactions. including anaphylasis.
Rasbiricase should be immediately and permanently discontinued if any patient develops clinical evidence of a serious hypersensitivity reaction
Hemolysis - Rasburicase administered to a patient with glucose -6-phosphate dehydrogenase G6PD deficiency canncause severe hemolysis. It is recommended that patients at higher risk for G6PD deficiency be screened prior to starting therapy
Hydration- patients on rasburicase should receive IV hydration acording to standard medical practice for management of plasma uric acid in patients at risk for tumor syndrome.
Pregnancy- Rasburicase should be given topregnant women only if required
Lactation- because of the potential risk to the fetus, adminster the drug only if it is important to the mother
Children- safety and efficacy of rasburicase not established in children.
Dosages/ Overdosage Etc:
Indication-
Hyperuricemia
Dosage-
0.15 or 0.2mg/kg as a single daily dose for 5 days.
Dosing beyond 5 days or administration of more than 1 course of rasburicase is not recommended
Do not adminster as a bolus infusion. Rasburicase should be administered as an intravenous
infusion over 30 minutes
Pregnancy and lactation:
