Indication:
Reduced cellular hypersensitivity
Adverse Reaction:
Systemic - sneezing, coughing, itching, shortness of breath, abdominal cramps, vomiting,
diarrhea, tachycardia, hypotension, respiratory failure,
Progession of delayed reaction- necrosis, and ulceration is possible
Local -redness, swelling, bruising, pruritus, excoriation, discoloration of the skin,
vesiculation, bullae dermal exfoliation, cellulitis
Contra-Indications:
History of previous unacceptable adverse reactions.
Special Precautions/Warnings-
Type 1 allergy - product should not be used to diagnose or treat Type 1 allergy to C.albicans
Immunodeficiency - it may be advisable to skin test patients at high risk of tuberculosis with antigens in addition to tuberculin to confirm patients state of cellular immunity
Local reactions- severe local reactions may require additional measures as appropiate
Systemic reactions - usually occur within 30 minutes after the injection of antigen
Route of administration- do not inject into the blood vessel. It must be not given IV.
Hypersensitivity - facilties, medications necessary to treat all potential local and systemic
reactions must be avialable
Pregnancy- problems in pregnancy are unlikely. Give to pregnant women only if required
Lactation- Problems in breast feeding are unlikely
Children- safety and efficcy has not been established
Elderly - DTH response to C albicans may be diminished in elderly patients, since the aging process is known to alter cell-mediated immunity.
Dosages/ Overdosage Etc:
Indications-
Reduced cellular hypersensitivity
Dosage-
skin test antigen is administered intradermally on the volar surface of the forearm or
on the outer aspect of the upper arm. The test dose is 0.1ml. Cleanse the skin with
70% alcohol before applying the skin test.
Pregnancy and lactation:
Pregnancy-
Problems in pregnancy are unlikely. Give to pregnant women only if required
Lactation-
Problems in breast feeding are unlikely
Children- Safety and efficacy has not been established
Elderly -
