Contact dermatitis
Adverse Reaction:
Adverse reactions-
keloids, sarcoid infiltrates, vitilgo spots, crusting and sensitization
erythema, hyperpigmentation, pruritus, scarring, urticaria,
delayed reaction ( allergan unknown ), sensitization,
Contra-Indications:
Test should not applied in case of extensive ongoing contact dermatitis
Special Precautions/Warnings-
Patch testing during the summer months - during summer months excessive seating is
to avoided in order to maintain sufficient adhesion to the skin
Severe patch reactions- if severe patch reaction develops, the patient may be treated with
topical corticosteroids.
Hypersentivity reactions- patients should be warned that itching and sensations are common occurences with patch testing and may be severe in extensively sensitive patients
Pregnancy - allergan patch should be applied to pregnant women only if clearly needed
Lactation- caution should be excercised when allergen patch is administered to a nursing
woman
Children- safety and efectiveness of allergen test in children have not been established
Elderly- older patients may exhibit an increased frequency of cutaneous allergies

The test ashould be applied to the lower part of the back
Apply to health skin that is free from acne, scars, dermatitis, or any condition that may interfere
with the interpretation of test results.
Patient Information:
1. Patients should avoid extreme physical activity or mechanical action that may result in
adhesion or actual loss of patch test material
2. Patients should be adviced that a strong allergic response to one or more test allergens
can be associated with itching, burning, erythema and vasiculation
3. Patients who experience intense discomfort should contact their physician concerning
possible removal of the test.
Pregnancy and lactation:
