Drug interactions- summary-

Increased risk of serotonin with SSRI

Possible decrease in levodopa plasma levels with trytophan

Increased risk of severe behavioural and neurological toxicity with MAOIs
start with lower initial dose of trytophan if needed

Depression

Nausea ( take after food to minimise nausea.)

Headache, lightheaedness , drowsiness, eosionophilia -myalgia syndrome

History of eosinophailia -myalgia syndrome associated with trytophan treatment

Special Precautions-

May affect ability to drive or operate machinery

Monitor for suicadal thoughts or cliniacl worsening of depression during  treatment period

Renal or hepatic impairment

Max - 6g

Elderly- dose reduction may be needed
