Additive CNS effects may occur with CNS depressants eg. TCA, alcohol, antihistamines, narcotic analgesics, thioridazine, and diphenylhydramine Cytochrome P450CYP3A4 inducers eg rifampicin, phenytoin, carbamazepine and phenobarb decreases zalepion concn. Increased zalepion conc, with cimetidine and CYP3A4 inhibitors, erytrhromycin, ketoconazole

Insomnia
Adverse Reaction:
Headache, lightheadedness, asthenia, dizziness, nausea, somnolence, rash, myalgia, back pain, chest pain taste perverstion, fever, migraine, constipation, dry mouth, dyspepsia, arthalgia, anxiety, depression, difficulty in concentrating, amnesia, confusion, hallucinations transcient impairment of memory & psychomotor function Decreased inhibition, behavioural changes( eg bizzaire behaviour, depersonalisation ) complex sleep related behaviour eg sleep driving
Contra-Indications:
Hypersentivity Severe hepatic impairment Lactation
Special precautions
May precipitate new psychiatric abnormalities Depression, hepatic impairment History of drug or alcohol dependence or abuse elderly, & debilitated patients children < 18 yrs pregnancy May impair ability to drive or operate machinery Do not take zalepion if there is < 4hr of sleep Dose reduction or withdrawal of drug should be done gradually

Adult- 10mg before bedtime Max 20mg daily Elderly > 65 yr 5mg before bedtime Max 10mg daily
Pregnancy and lactation:
Contraindicated for use during pregnancy and lactation Observe caution if use is required
