TELMISARTAN + RAMIPRIL - HARMFUL
In a very large trial( ONTARGET) involving 25.620 subjects has found that patients receiving the combination of an Angiotensin II Receptor Antagonist Blocker ( Telmisartan ) and an ACE inhibitor (Ramipril ) did not obtain any benefit in the end points of the cardiovascular death, MI, stroke and heart failure compared to monotherapy, but experienced an increased incidence of clinically important renal dysfunction ( death , doubling of serum creatinine or dialysis ) compared with groups receiving talmisartan alone or ramipril alone.
Therefore concomittant use of telmisartan and ramipril is not recommended. ( MIMS )
