Dosage-
10mg taken orally approximately 60 minutes before sexual activity
The dose may be increased to a maximum of recommended dose of 20mg or decreased
to 5mg based on efficacy and side effects
Maximum dosing frequency is once daily .
Vardenafil can be taken with or without food.
Sexual stimulation is required for treatment
Elderly- a starting dose of vardenafil 5mg should be considered in patients 65 years of age
and older.
Hepatic function impairment- for patients with mild hepatic function impairment , no dosage
adjustment is required
Maximum dose in patients with moderate hepatic impairment should not exceed 10mg.
Vardenafil has not been evaluated in patients with severe hepatic impairment
Concomittant medications- dosage of vardenafil may require adjustment in patients receiving
certain CYP3A4 inhibitors eg erythromycin, indinavir, itraconazole, ketoconazole , ritonavir)
For rotonavir - a single dose of vardenafil 2.5mg should not be exceeded in 72 hour period
For indinavir, ketoconazole 400mg daily, and itraconazole 400mg daily, a single dose of
verdanafil 2.5mg should not be exceeded in a 24 hour period
For ketoconazole 200mg daily, itraconazole 200mg daily and erythromycin a single dose
of verdanafil 5mg should not be exceeded in a 24 hour period
Interaction with Food:
Vardenafil can be taken with or without food.
