            Adverse Reaction:
        
        
            
	Allergic reactions-  may be encountered in persons known to be sensitive to bovine materials.
	The inhibitory antibodies which intefere with hemostasis may develop in a small percentage
	of patients
        
     
    
    
           
            Contra-Indications:
        
        
            
	
	Special Precautions-
	Do not inject- because of its action in the clotting mechanism , thrombin topical must not be injected
	or othetwise allowed to enter large blood vessels. Extensive intravascular clotting and even death
	may result.
	Pregnancy- thrombin topical  should be given to pregnant women only if clearly needed.
	Children- safety and effectiveness in children have not been established

            Pharmacology/ Pharmacokinetics:
        
        
            
	Pharmacology-
	Thrombin topical requires no intermediate physiological agent.
	It clots the fibringen of the blood directly. Failure to clot of blood occurs in rare cases where the
	primary clotting defect is the absence of fibrinogen itself.
	The speed with which thrombin clots blood is dependent upon the concentration of both thrombin
	and fibrinogen
