Inteferes with serum chemistry tests

Amoebiasis
Giardiasis

GI distress, furred tongue, unpleeasant taste,

Leucopenia, urticaria,  angioedema, CNS disturbances, dark urine

Headache, dysuria, cystitis, incontinence, neutropenia,

Neoropathy& epilepiform seizures on long term therapy

Encephalopathy, aseptic menigintis, optic neuropathy, dysarthia

Stevens-Johnson Syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis

Pancreatic (rare) very rarely, confusion, hallucinations

Blood dyscrasias, active CNS infections, 1st trimester of pregnancy , lactation

Special Precaution-
Pregnancy
Discontinue if neurological symptoms occur.
Severe hepatic disease, reduce dose

Monitor leucocytes before and after therapy.
Elderly, monitor serum levels

Indication-
Amoebiasis
Giardiasis

Dosage-
2 tablets thrice daily for 5-10 days

Use contraindicated during pregnancy and lactation.
Observe caution
