Drug Interaction:
Antihypertensives, Ramipril, Digoxin, Lithium, Potssium sparing diiuretics,
Potassium supplements, simvastatin, heparin, cyclosporin,
Trimethoprim, tacrolimus, NSAIDs, corticosteroids,
Dantrolene, Grapefruit, Baclofen, alcohol, barbiturates, antidepresants
Adverse Reaction:
Headache, upper respiratory tract infection, dizziness, drowsiness, fatigue,
depression, angio-edema, G-I Tract upset, diarrhea, fever, urinary tract infection,
eczema,rash, nausea, flushing, worsening of angina and acute myocardial infarction
gum hyperplasia, thrombocytopenia.
abnormal hepatic function/liver disorder, renal impairment including acute renal failure
anemia, increased CPK, Hyponatremia
Contra-Indications:
Billiary obstruction, Cholestasis.
severe renal or hepatic impairment, fructose intolerance,
Concomittant ramipril, aliskiren, Aortic or mitral stenosis
Cardiogenic shock, unstable angina
Pregnancy, lactation
Special precautions-
Elderly, renal artery stenosis, renovascular hypertension,
Renal impairment, kidney transplant
Dialysis (monitor for orthostatic hypertension)
Sodium, volume depletion,
Renin- angiotension- aldosterone system stimulation
Primary aldosteronism, Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy
Cardiac failure, cadio-vsscular disease.
Within 1 month of MI
Mild to moderate hepatic disease.
Diabetes, Monitor serum electrolyte
If pregnancy detected , discontinue
