Attapulgite - Oral
1. Pregnancy-
This medicine is not absorbed into the body and is not llikely to cause problems
2. Breast-feeding-
This medicine is not absorbed into the body and is not likely to cause problems
3. Children-
The fluid loss caused by diarrhea may result in severe condition. For this reason
antidiarrheals must not be given to young children ( under 3 years of age) without
first checking with the doctor.
In older children with diarrrhea , an additional to an antidiarrheal, must receive
sufficient amount of liquids to replace the fluid lost by the body. If you have any
questions about this, check with your doctor.
4. Other medicines.
Although certain medicines should not be used together at all, in other cases two
different medicines may be used together even if an interaction might occur. In such
cases your doctor may want to change the dose, or other precautions may be necessary.
If you taking any other medicine, do not take it within 2 to 3 hours of attapulgite.
Taking the medicine at the same time may prevent the other medicine from being
absorbed by your body. If you have any questions about this, check with your doctor.
5. Other medical problems-
The presence of other medical problems may affect the use of attapulgite. Make
sure that you tell your doctor if you have any other medical problems, especially
Dysentry- this condition may become worse, a different kind of treatment may be
needed
