Marked increase in BP with adrenaline. Reduced cardiac output with anaesthetics. Exacerbation of rebound hypertension produced by clonidine. Bradycardia,hypotension and heart failure with verapramil.
Rapid absorption when given with food.
Cimetidine increases plasma concentrations.
Antihypertensive effects blocked by indomethicin. Increase in duration and severity of hypoglycaemic reactions in diabetic patients.

Adverse Reaction:
Bronchospasm,cardiac failure,hypoglycaemia in patients with pre-existing organic disease. Headache,dizziness,insomnia,joint and muscle pain,fatigue,oedema,nervousness,muscle cramps.
Contra-Indications:
Bronchospasm,low cardiac output,untreated cardiac failure, bradycardia and heart block, hypoglycaemia,severe haemorrhage,lactation thyrotoxicosis.
Special precautions:
Pregnancy,neonates,children and elderly.

Dosage:
Individualise dose. 5mg twice daily,alone or with other antihypetensive agents. Adjust dose in increments of 10mg/day at 3 to 4 weeks intervals,to a maximum of 60mg/day.
