Concomittant general anaesthesia,may impair myocardial contractility
.Polymorphic ventricular tachycardia with antidepressants and quinidine.
Food and milk reduces bioavilability.

Adverse Reaction:
Polymorphic ventricular tachycardia(very rare).
Nausea,insomnia,lassitude,diarrhoea, masks early signs of hypoglycaemia,bradycardia,cardiac arrhythmias.rebound angina,arrhythmias or ever M.I. if withdrawn abruptly.
Contra-Indications:
Patients with heart-block or history of bronchospasm & poor cardiac reserve,diabetic ketoacidosis and metabolic acidosis.
Special precautions::
The drug may reduce or mask the pre-hypoglycaemic warning signs in treated diabetes.
Withdraw the drug gradually.
Pregnancy,lactation. Reduce dosage in renal insufficiency. History of asthma.Monitor plasma electrolyte concentration before and during therapy.
Dosages/ Overdosage Etc:
Indication-
Supraventricular and ventricularv tachycardia
Dosage-
80mg daily as a single dose or in 2 divided doses increased gradually every 2-3 days Usual dose - 160- 320mg daily in 2 divided doses maximum 640mg
Child- neonates- initially 1mg/kg bid increased every 3-4 days if necessary
Maximum- 1mth - 12 year- 1mg/kg bid increased if necessary every 2-3 days
Life threatening ventricular arrhythmias- adult- 480 - 840 mg daily
