Tazabactum
Indications-
For the treatment of patients with moderate to severe infections caused by
pipercillin-resistent , pepiercillin/tazobactum- susceptible , Beta lactamase
producing strains of microrganisms in the following conditions-
Appendicitis (complicated by rupture abcess ) and peritonitis caused by
penicillin-resistent Beta- lactamase producing strains of Escherchia Coli or
other members of the group
Community acquired pneumonia( moderate to severity only)
Nosocomial pneumonia (moderate to severe)
Post partum endometrics or pelvic inflammatory disease
Uncomplicated and complicated skin and structure infections
Dosage-
Adult- usual daily dose for adults is 3.375g every 6 hours totaling
13.5g (12g of pipercillin per 1.5g of tazobactum for 7 to 10 days
Children- 9 months of age and older with appendicitisand/or peritonnitis,
weighing up to 40kg with healthy renal functions
The recommended dose is 100mg of pipercillin per 12.5mfg of tazobactum per kg
of body weight , every 6 hours
For children between 2 and 9 months of age the recommended dose is 80mg
of pipercillin per 10mg of tazobactum per kg of bodt weight every 8 hours
Children weighing more than 40kg with healthy renal finction should receive
adult dose.
No dosage recommendation for children with impaired renal function
