Enhances the action of anaesthetic agents, clonidine, calcium antagonists, digitalis, hypoglycaemic agents & NSAID. Simultaneous admin of rifampicin may cause reduction of plasma concentration & elimination half-life of the drug. But increase in dosage usually not necessary. Effects of other antihypertensives may be intensified.

Mild to moderate hypertension
Adverse Reaction:
May occur in patients with pre-existing cardiac disease.Include severe bronchospasm, hypoglycaemia,hypotens and bradyarrhythmias.
Rebound phenomenon,leading to unstable angina or M.I. on sudden withdrawal. Giddiness,headache,fatigue,bradycardia,nausea,
GI disturbn, dysponea.cold extremities,insomnia,hallucination & mood alterations.
Contra-Indications:
Low cardiac output and untreated cardiac failure.Bradycardia and heart block. Bronchospasm.Severe haemorraghage.
Special precautions:
Pregnancy & lactation.Monitor blood glucose values & dosage of anti-diabetic drug, insulin, frequently.Symptoms of hypoglycaemia may be masked during therapy.Elderly.

Indications:
Antihypertensive used alone or in combination.
Dosage:
May be given without regard to meals. Individualise dose. Initial dose- 5mg once daily, dose may be increased to 10mg or if necessary to 20mg once daily.
