PHOSPHATES- Systemic
1.Allergies-
Tell your doctor if you have ever had any unusual or allergic reaction to
to potassium, sodium or phosphates. Also tell your healthcare care
professional if you are allergic to any other substances such as foods,
preservatives or dyes.
2.Pregnancy-
It is important that you are receiving enough dietary supplements when you become
pregnant and you continue to receive the right amount throughout the term
of pregnancy. It is equally important taking large amounts of dietary supplement
during pregnancy is harmful to the mother and/or fetus and should be avoided
3. Breast-feeding-
It is important that you receive the right amount of dietary supplements so that
your baby will also get the vitamins and minerals needed to grow properly.
It is equally important taking taking large amounts of dietary supplements
while breast feeding may be harmful to the mother and/or baby, and should
be avoided
4.Children-
Problems in children have not been reported with intake of normal daily
recommendations
5.Older adults-
Problems with older adults have not been reported with normal daily
recommedated amouns
6. Other medicines-
Tell your doctor if you are using any of the following medicines
Amiloride or
ACE inhibitors-or
Cyclosporine or
Digitalis or
Heparin or
Other potassium containing medicines or
Salt substitutes or
Triamterene- use with potassium containing phosphates may incease the
risk of hyperkalemia possibly leading to side effects
Antacids - use with phosphates may prevent phosphate from working properly
Phosphate containing medications - may cause high blood levels of phosphrous
which may increase side effects
Sodium containing medications- may cause your body to retain water
7. Other medical problems-
Make sure you tell your doctor if you have any other medical problems
especially-
Burns or
Heart disease or
Pancreatitis or
Rickets or
Underactive parathyroid glands- sodium or potassium containing phosphates
may make the conditions worse.
High blood pressure or
Liver disease or
Toxemia of pregnancy- sodium containing phosphates may make these
conditions worse
Kidney disease- sodium containing phosphates may make conditions worse
