PROBUCOL- Systemic
1.Allergies-
Tell your doctor if you have ever had any unusual or allergic reaction to
probucol. Also tell your healthcare care professional if you are allergic
to any other substances such as foods. preservatives or dyes.
2.Diet-
Before prescribing medicine for your condition, your doctor will probably
try to control your condition by prescribing a personal diet for you. Such
a diet may be low in fats, sugars, and or cholesterol.
Make sure your doctor who is treating you,knows, if you are in any special diet
3.Pregnancy-
Probucol has not been studied in pregnant women. However, it has not
been shown to cause birth defects or other problems in animal studies
4. Breast-feeding-
It is not known whether probucol passes into breast milk. However, this medicine
is not recommended for use during breast-feeding because it may cause
unwanted effects in nursing babies
5.Children-
There is no specific information on use of probucol in children. However use
is not recommended in children under 2 years of age since cholesterol is not
needed for normal development
6.Older adults-
There is no specific information comparing use of probucol in the elderly with use
in other age groups
7. Other medicines-
Tell your doctor if you are using any other prescription or non-prescription
(Over-the counter) OTC medicine.
8. Other medical problems-
Make sure you tell your doctor if you have any other medical problems
especially-
Gallbladdder disease or gallstones or
Heart disease - probucol may make the condition worse
Liver disease- higher blood levels of probucol may result in increase
the chance of side effects.
