RADIOPHARMACEUTICALS - SYSTEMIC
1.Allergies-
If you will be receiving albumin in the form of iodinated albumin,
tachnetium Tc 99m albumin aggregated ,technetium Tc99 m albumin
colloid, or technetium Tc99 m albumin for your test, tell your doctor
if you have ever had any unusual or allergic reaction to products
containing human albumin. Also tell your healthcare care professional
if you are allergic to any other substances such as foods. preservatives
or dyes.
2.Pregnancy-
Radiopharmaceuticals are not normally recommended during pregnancy.
3. Breast-feeding-
Some radiopharmaceuticals pass into breast milk and may expose the baby
to radiation. If you must receive radiopharmaceuticals, it may be necessary
to stop breast feeding for some time after reciving it. Be sure you have
discussed this with your doctor.
4.Children-
For most radiopharmaceuticals, the amount of radiation used for diagnostic
test is very low and hence considered safe. However, be sure that you have
discussed the benefit versus the risk with your doctor
5.Older adults-
Although there is no specific information comparing use of radiopharmaceuticals
in the elderly with use in other age groups, problems would not be expected
to occur
6. Other medicines-
Tell your doctor if you are using any of the following medicines-
You are taking iodine iodide I 131 or sodium pertechnetate Tc 99m for
thyroid test, it is especially important that your doctor should know if
have taking Iodine through other medicines or food. For example, if
You are taking iodine containing medicines, including certain
multiviatmins and cough syrups
You eat large amounts of iodine-containing foods such as iodized salt,
cabbage, kale, rape, (turnip -like vegetable) or turnips
You have had an X-ray test recently for which you were given a special
dye that contained iodine
7. Other medical problems-
Make sure you tell your doctor if you have any other medical problems.
