Potentially Hazardous Interactions:
Resperine - Catecholamine-depleting drugs,such as resperine,may cause
additive effects and precipitate marked hypotension or bradycardia.
Betablockers - Betablockers may increase patients response to allergens
Adrenaline- Reduce the effectiveness of usual doses of adrenaline in treating
allergic reactions
Digitalis- Risk of arrhythmias with digitalis.
Amiodrone, Quinidine- Altered response to quinidine,amiodrone and possibly other
antiarrhythmias.
Diabetics- Glycemic control may be altered in diabetic patients.
Aminoglycosides, Lithium- Hydrocholrthiazide may increase nephrotoxicity of amino-glycosides and lithium toxicity.
Toburamine- Effects of tobucuraine may be prolonged
Coticosteroids- Corticosteroids may increase risk of hypokalaemia.
Adverse Reaction:
Potentially life threatening Reactions:
Hypersensitvity,hypotension and severe bradycardia. Fluid and electrolytic balance, dizziness headache, tiredness,depression, bradycardia, cold extremities.
Raynauld's type phenomena, congestive failure, reduced excercise tolerance, dyspnoea,
bronchospasm, hypokalaemia, oedema, gout, impotence, pruritus. rash, nightmares, insomnia.
Contra-Indications:
Second or third degree AV block,sinus bradycardia,cardio-genic shock,congestive failure,
lactation, hypersensitivity, bronchial asthma.
Special Precautions:
Renal or hepatic impairment,diabetes mellitus, hyperlipide-mia, hyperuricaemia, gout,
LVH and ventricular ectopics, thyro-toxicosis, major surgery, withdrawal.
Dosages/ Overdosage Etc:
Hypertension
1-2 tabs daily
