Drug Interaction:
Calcium antagonists (incl. verapramil ,diltiazem, nefedipine ) digoxin increased risk of bradycardia Catecholamine depleting agents. Antiarrhythmic agents ,amiodarone, alcohol, CNS depressants. Diuretics, clonidine, reserpine,
ACE inhibitors, alpha blockers, other antihypertensives. Sympathomimetics, isoproterenol, dobutamine, ergotamne, quibidine, dihydroergotamine, prpafenone, hydralazine. MAOIs antithyroid drugs, haloperidol, NSAIDs , chlorpromazine, cmetidine, phenytoin, barbiturates, rifampicin, lidocaine, thephylline, antipyrine, epinephrine.
Warfarin. Antipsychotics, TCADs , moxisylate, fluvoxamine, errythromycin, insilin/oral hypoglycemics, antimalarials, local anesthetics. May interfere withglaucoma screening tests.
Indication:
Moderate to moderately severe benign hyperetension Renal hyperetension
Adverse Reaction:
Hypotension, bradycardia, CHF , angina, cold extremities, headache, dreams, GI disturbances, Fatigue, dizziness, depression, pharnygitis, agranucytosis,
Bronchial spasms Eye reactions. Hypoglycemia, Cutaneous reactions, including Stevens- Johnson syndrome, toxic epidrmal necrosis, exfoliative dermatitis, erythema mutiforme, and urticaria,
Raynauds phenomenon, sexual dysfunction Sleep and NCS disturbances, dyspnea, paraesthesia, peripheral neuropathy, arthalgia, myopathy, diabestes, Intrauterine growth retardation, small placenta, and congenital abnormalities in neonates, whose mothers received propranol during pregnancy
Sports events -restricted - banned
Contra-Indications:
Bronchialspasms, COPD history of bronchiospasm. Congestive cardiac failure, Acute myocardial infarction, 2nd and 3rd degree heart block,
Right ventricular hypertrophy, metabolic acidosis, Sinus/severe bradycardia, sick sinus syndrome, hypotension, shock, Allergic disorders, peripheral arterial disease, Pregnancy
Special precautions-
Lactation First degree herat block, renal impairment, Surgery, diabetes, hyperthyroidism, Alcholic cardiomyopathy. W-P-W syndrome. COPD , SLE, Myasthenia gravis Avoid abrupt with drawal Elderly

Pregnancy and lactation:
Contraindicated for use during pregnancy and lactation. Use with caution only when needed
