Drug Interaction:
Potentiates CNS depressants including alcohol,barbiturates analgesics,sedatives and neuroleptics. MAOIs,atropine, antidepressants enhance antimuscarinic effect. Masks ototoxicity produced by aminoglycoside antibiotics. Incompitable with aminophylline, hydrocortisones, phenothiazines,and soluble barbiturates.

Adverse Reaction:
CNS depression,paradoxical CNS stimulation,dryness of mouth, Thickened respiratory secretions, Blurring of vision, Urinary retension,constipation, Bradycardia, followed by tachycardia and arrhythmias. GI disturbances,blood dyscrasias.
Contra-Indications:
History of of hypersensivity to dimenhydrinate or related drug diphenhydramine, porphyria, pregnancy. Special precautions: The drug is capable of masking symptoms of ototoxicty of certain antibiotics when used in conjunction which leads to irreversible state.
Dosages/ Overdosage Etc:
Indications:
Nausea, vomiting,dizziness,vertigo of motion sickness.
Dosage:
Adult:- Oral- 50 to 100mg every 4 to 6 hours .Do not exceed 400mg in 24 hours. IM- 50mg as needed. IV- 50mg in 10ml sod chloride injection given 2 minutes.
Children- (6 to 12 years) Oral- 25 to 50 every 6 to 8 hours Do not exceed 150mg in 24 hours. IM- 1.25mg/kg or 37.5mg/sqm 4 times a day. Do not exceed 300mg daily..
