Interactions -summary-
Potentiates CNS depressant,action of alcohol,barbiturates, hypnotics,opoid analgesics, sedatives, neuroleptics.
Antimuscarinic effect potentiated by MAOIs,atropine, and tricyclic antidepressants .
Masks ototoxicity produced by aminoglycosides.

Adverse Reaction:
CNS depression paradoxical. CNS excitation(children), Blurring of vision, dry mouth, Retension of urine, constipation, Bradycardia,followed by tachycardia and arrhythmia. G.I.upset blood dyscrasias, hypotension, headache and giddiness. Tinnitus, vertigo, Nausea and parathesias.
Contra-Indications:
Prostatic hypertrophy,narrow angle glaucoma,pregnancy, paralytic ileus,G.I.obstruction. Special precautions: Driving or operating machinery. Effect of alcohol and centrally depressant drugs may be enhanced. Epilepsy,severe CVS disorders,elderly.

Motion sickness- Initial dose 25 to 50mg,1 hour prior to travel may repeat every 24 hours for the duration of journey.

1.Allergies-
Tell your doctor if you have ever had any unusual or allergic reaction to
Buclizine,cyclizine or meclizine. Also tell your healthcare care professional
if you are allergic to any other substances such as foods. preservatives or dyes.
2.Pregnancy-
These medicines have not been shown to cause birth defects or other problems
in humans. However, studies in animals have shown that buclizine, cyclizine, and
meclizine, given in doses many times the highest human daily dose cause birth defects
such as cleft palate.
3. Breast-feeding-
Although these medicines may pass into breast milk, they have not been reported
to cause problems in nursing babies. These medicines tend to decrease secretions
of the body. It is possible that the flow of milk may be reduced
4.Children-
There is no specific information comparing these medicines in children with use
in other age groups. Children may be more sensitive to anticholinergic effects( eg
dryness of mouth,nose and throat) of these medicines
5.Older adults-
There is no specific information comparing use of these medicines in the elderly
with use in other age groups. However, older people may be more sensitive to the
anticholinergic effects (such as constipation, difficult urination, dryness of the mouth,
nose and throat ) of these medicines
6. Other medicines-
Tell your doctor if you are using any of the following -
Central Nervous system- use with bucycline, cyclizine, meclizine, may increase
the side effects of either of these medicines
7. Other medical problems-
Make sure you tell your doctor if you have any other medical problems
especially-
Asthma, bronchitis, emphysema - cyclizine or meclizine may cause breathing
problems in patients who have these ailments
Enlarged prostrate- or
Glaucoma or
Intestinal blockage or
Uurinary tract blokage- these medicines will make the condition worse
Heart failure- cyclizine may make the condition worse
