Antiparkinson Agents- Anticholinergics Benztropine, Mesylate , Biperiden, Diphenylhydramine, Ethopropazine, Procyclidine, Trihexylphenidyl- Refer Biperiden
Hyperpyrexia may occur with phenothiazine especially in hot and humid weather
Reduces threshold for seizures.
Additive anticholinergic effects with antihistamine,opiate antagonists, phenothiazines, tricyclic antidepressants, quinidine.
Reduced peristatic movements affects absorption of erythromycin,penicillin.

Adverse Reaction:
Excitability,dizziness,hallucinations(seen on abuse), Dry mouth,blurred vision, Constipation,urinary retension, Agitation,restlessness, Confusion and convulsions.
Contra-Indications:
GIT,urinary flow obstruction
Special precautions:
Lactation,narrow angle glaucoma. Safety in pregnancy not established.

Parkinsonism
Dosage:
Initially 2.5mg 3 times a day daily after meals. If well toleratede increase gradually to 5mg 3 times daily and occasionally before retiring.
Patient Information:
1. If GI upset occurs, may be taken with food.
2. May cause drowsiness, dizziness or blurred vision, observe caution while driving or performing tasks which require alertness until response to the drug is known.
3.Avoid alcohol and other CNS agents.
4. May cause dry mouth. sucking hard candy, adequate fluid intake or good oral hygiene may relieve these symptoms. Difficult urination or constipation may occur, constipation may be relieved by use of stool softeners. Notify physician if effects persist.
5. Notify physician if rapid or pounding heartbeat, confusion, eye pain, or rash occurs.
6. Use caution in hot weather. The medication may increase susceptibility to heat stroke
