As an adjunctive treatment of partial onset seizures in patients
> 17 years of age
Adjunct to partial seizures
Adverse Reaction:
Dizziness, headache, visual disturbances GI upset depressin Disorders of balance Co-ordination and gait Memory and cognitive disorders Somolonece Tremor Nystagmus diplopia vertigo tinnitus syncope pruritus rash asthenia fatigue insomnia hypoesthesia irritability dysarthria muscle spasm tremors PR interval prolongation Abnornal LFTs Monitor patients for suicidal thoughts or behaviour Mood changes rarely muti-organ hypersentivity reactions
Contra-Indications:
2nd and 3rd degree AV block Lactation Special precautions- Renal CrCl < 30ml/min or hepatic imparment endstage renal disease haemodialysis cardiac conduction disorders severe cardiac diseases eg history of MI , heart failure Depression diabeticneuropathy obtain ECG pre-therapy and after titration to steady state elderly withdraw gradually pregnancy
Dosages/ Overdosage Etc:
Adjunct to partial seizures
Initially 50mg twice daily for one week then 100mg twice daily
Pregnancy and lactation:
Use contraindicated . Observe caution
