Adverse Reaction:
Hemotologic-
Leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, agranulocytosis, pancutopenia(rare)
Hypersensitivity-
Anaphylactoid reactions and drug fever
CNS-
Drowsiness, dizziness, confusion, pardoxical stimulation, insomnia, increased nervousness, headache, Dose reduction will usually control these symptoms.
GI-
Nausea, epigastric distress. GI bleeding)two cases, not established as drug-related)
Contra-Indications:
Hypersensitivity to chlorphenesin carbamate.
Safety Precautions:
Warning
Hypersensitivity- Ocasionally anaphylactoid reactions and drug fever occur. Such reactions indicate discontinuing the drug.
Hepatic function impairment- Use with caution in patients with preesxisting liver disease or impaired hepatic function.
Pregnancy- Safety for use has not been esatblished. Use during pregnancy and in women of childbearing potential only if clearly needed and when potential benefits outweigh potential hazards.
Lactation- Safety for use has not been established. Use is not recommended.
Children- Sagety and efficacy are not established. Use is not recommended.
Precautions- Duration- Safe use for periods exceeding 8 weeks has not been established.
Hazardous tasks- May impair mental or physical abilities required for the performance of potentailly hazardous tasks, patients should observe caution while driving or performing other tasks requiring alertness, cordination or physical dexterity.
Dosages/ Overdosage Etc:
Indications:
Musculoskeletal conditions.
Dosage:
Initial: 800mg 3 times daily until the desired effect is obtained. Maintenance: May reduce to 400mg 4 times daily, or less as required.
Overdosage- Symptoms
One patient who attempted sucide by ingesting 12g was slightly nauseated and drowsy for 6 hours, but receovered with routine supportive therapy
Treatment
1. Includes usual supportive measures.
Missed dose
1. If you miss a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as possible.
2. However, if it is almost time for next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule.
3. Do not double doses.

Pharmacology/ Pharmacokinetics:
Pharmacology:
Chlorphenesin is chemically related to mephenesin. Its mode of action has not been identified, but may be related to sedative properties. It has no direct action on straited muscles
Pharmacokinetics:
The drug is readily absorbed from the GI tract. Peak plasma concentrations of chlorphenesin are reached 1 or 3 hours after administration and half-life is approximately 3.5 hours.
