Drug Interaction:
When used in combination with gonadotropin therapy causes hyperstimulation of ovary. Hence therapy must be carefully monitored.
Indication:
Treatment of ovulatory failure
Adverse Reaction:
Ovarian enlargement,
abdominal pain and bloating,
blurred vision, hot flushes,
breast discomfort, depression,
multiple pregnancies.
Contra-Indications:
Abnormal bleeding,pregnancy,liver dysfunction,hypothyroidsm
Special precautions:
Female patients must be under supervision of gynaecologist during therapy
.Exclude pregnancy before & during therapy.

Dosage:
Initial- 50mg/day for 5 days
Second course- 100mg/day for 5 days.

Patient Information:
1. Allergies- Tell your doctor if you have ever had any unusual or allergic raections to clomiphene or other related medicines. Also tell your doctor if youn are allergic to any other substances such as foods, preservatives or dyes.
2. Pregnancy- stop taking this medicine and tell your doctor immediately if you think that you have become pregnant while still taking clomiphene
3. Breast feeding- this medicine stops milk being produced
4. Other medicines- tell your doctor if you are taking any other prescription or OTC medicine
5. Other medical problems- tell your doctor if you have any other medical problems- Unusually large ovary- or Cyst or ovary- clomiphene may cause the cyst to increase in size Endometriosis- including ovulation may worsen endometriosis because the body estrogen level is increased, estrogen can cause growth of endometriosis inplants
11. Missed dose- If you miss a dose of this medicine take it as soon as possible. However if it is almost time for your next dose go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not double doses.

Pharmacology:
Clomiphene an orally administered nonsteroidal agent, may induce ovulation in selected anovulatory women. They appear to mediate ovulation through increased output of pituitary gonadrotropin,which stimulates the maturation and endrocrine activity of the ovarian follicle and susequent development of the corpus luteum.
Pharmacokinetics:
Clomiphene is readily absorbed orally and is excreted principally in the feces. Excretion averaged 51% of the dose after 5 days. Drug appears in the feces 6 weeks after administration, suggesting that the remaining drug/metabolites are slowly excreted from a squestered enterohepatic recirculation pool.
