Drug Interaction:
Decreases effect of tricyclic antidepressents, hypoglycaemic agents, anticoagulants.
Rifampicin, barbiturates and phenytoin may interfere with effects.
Indication:
Threatened miscarriage
Adverse Reaction:
Menstrual irregularities and amenorrhoea with prolonged use.
GI disturbances, Acne, fluid retension and oedema,
Weight gain, allergic reactions,
Mental depression,
Breast discomfort,
Changes in libido,
Altered LFT,
Jaundice(rare).
Contra-Indications:
History of thomboembolic disorders.
Mammary or genital carcinoma.
Liver dysfunction.
Undiagnosed abnormal uterine bleeding.
Special precaution:
Diabetes, epilepsy, migraine.
Dosages/ Overdosage Etc:
Indication-
Threatened miscarriage
Dosage-
Adult - 5mg tid for 5- 7 days
